To The Mother:
petty poetry month // day twenty-two
Oh hi!
I cannot even begin to update you on the last month of this divorce fiasco.
My children smashed the screen of my computer in true 2025 fashion, and I just got it back!!
It’s not technically Petty Poetry Month anymore, but I drafted 28 poems and 28 poems I will publish.
To The Mother:
Are you really telling me you wouldn't go back and leave your own abuser sooner? Do you think I should have waited until he jumped on top of me or jumped on top of my son? Because that's what you taught your son love was. And he practiced all he learned on me. Are you saying you didn't warn me about his temper? And your daughter didn't tell me he was physical to her? You're lucky, ya know? That they don't blame you for staying; my siblings don't fault my mother either. But, I do. Research says that keeping children in an abusive home is just as abusive. You made your choice. Your choice led me to make my own.
